Hands you can trust
Half Moon Nail is a one-artist studio: every set, from the first consultation to the last coat, is done by Sophie.
Founder & nail artist
Sophie
Sophie opened Half Moon Nail four years ago to make the kind of appointment she wanted for herself: one guest at a time, careful prep, and no rush to the finish.
She loves soft gel extensions, builder gel that lets natural nails grow strong, and fine hand-painted details. Bring a photo, a colour, or just a feeling, and she will shape it into a set that suits your hands.

Before your visit
Still wondering about something? Send us a note and we will reply within one business day.
How long does a gel manicure last?
Two to three weeks on most natural nails, especially with a drop of cuticle oil each evening. Builder gel (BIAB) and soft gel extensions last three to four weeks before an infill.
What is the difference between BIAB and gel polish?
Gel polish is a thin, flexible color coat. BIAB is a builder gel: a thicker, stronger layer that supports the natural nail so it can grow out without bending or breaking. It can be worn sheer, colored underneath, or finished with gel polish on top.
Do I need to remove my old set first?
No need. Add a soak-off to your booking and we will remove gel or extensions gently with a warm wrap and a wooden pusher, never by filing down your natural nail.
How do booking, deposits, and cancellations work?
Book online or by phone. Longer services and nail art appointments hold a small deposit that comes off your final bill. You can cancel or move your visit up to 24 hours ahead at no charge; later changes keep the deposit as a credit for your next visit.
How do you keep tools clean?
Metal tools are cleaned, then sterilized in an autoclave and opened from a sealed pouch in front of you. Files and buffers are single-use, and every station is disinfected between guests.
How should I care for my nails after a visit?
Use cuticle oil daily, wear gloves for cleaning and dishes, and treat your nails as jewels rather than tools. If a set lifts or chips within the first week, let us know and we will look after it.
How is nail art priced?
Chrome and cat eye finishes are a flat $15 add-on. Hand-painted designs start at $20 and are priced by detail, from a simple accent nail to a full set of florals. Send us your inspiration photos and we will quote before we begin.
Can I bring my own nail inspiration?
Please do. Save a few photos to your phone or add them to your booking note, and your artist will plan the shape, shade, and design with you before the first coat.
